The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra presents the Canadian premiere of Derrick Wang’s orchestral work Valley, Mountain, Sky in a concert featuring the acclaimed Peking Acrobats, on April 25–27, 2014. WSO Resident Conductor Julian Pellicano conducts. Based on Chinese folk songs, Valley, Mountain, Sky was commissioned by the Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale for its inaugural tour of Asia. The world premiere took place in 2008 in Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall and the Shanghai Grand Theatre in the run-up to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
