‘Scalia/Ginsburg’ launches new initiative by Charlottesville Opera: March 28–29, 2025
On March 28 & 29, 2025, a new production of Derrick Wang’s Supreme Court opera Scalia/Ginsburg launches Charlottesville Opera’s new multi-year initiative to present contemporary works.
Scalia/Ginsburg is the inaugural work to be produced through this new initiative, named Wallace Worx, which showcases newly composed English-language operas within five to ten years of their premiere.
This marks Scalia/Ginsburg’s 25th fully-staged production—and its first performances in Virginia since the opera’s 2015 world premiere at Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival.
Charlottesville Opera’s production of Scalia/Ginsburg will take place in Grisham Hall at St. Anne’s-Belfield, Charlottesville, VA, as follows:
Friday, March 28, 2025 | 7pm ET
Saturday, March 29, 2025 | 2pm ET
The production includes a post-performance panel discussion with individuals close to U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ginsburg and Scalia, the figures who inspired this opera.
Tickets, show information, and a press release are available at the Charlottesville Opera website.
